Someone in the role of Associate Athletics Director for Business Services typically will develop, present, and report on budgets and all its components, works collaboratively with the athletics director, team coaches, and department staff to ensure the budget meets programmatic objectives. This individual also tracks and projects athletics revenues and expenditures on an ongoing basis. S/he reviews purchase orders and contracts to ensure proper solicitation of independent vendors. Management of corporate sponsorship and trade-out agreements may also be part of the job description. S/he advises the director of specific expenditure issues and concerns, prepares all athletics financial reports and surveys, drafts and reviews all contracts, coordinating with university business and financial affairs.

Qualifications. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or closely-related field. Three years of experience in budget preparation and review, general ledger and subsidiary systems, and financial analysis. Specialized skills experience in higher education, or other similar organization preferred. Experience with intercollegiate athletics.
Salary Range. Smaller institutions will average $55,000 while larger institutions can pay over $100,000.
